Apartment Review
Not exactly the best..
Review Date: 8/19/2010 Reviewer: Anonymous
We signed a 6th month lease agreement. The lady working at the front desk said that the apartment would be cleaned and the flooring would be shampooed and vacuumed. On the move in day while looking around the apartment I noticed stains on the carpet. Our carpet is placed down in squares which looks absolutely tacky. My husband suggested that we put the stained pieces of carpet into the closets where they wont be seen, so I thought It would be a good idea to start doing it before they brought everything in. Once I pulled up the piece of carpet I noticed a large stain on the wood floor underneath. I smelled the carpet it stunk of urine. Every piece of carpet with stains on the surface had stains on the wood underneath and there was a lot. We tried getting a hold of the lady at the front desk but it was on a weekend and she went home already. We vacuumed the carpet after moving in a got a HUGE WAD of cat hair. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that if you vacuumed and shampooed like they said they did we wouldn't have stained, horrible smelling carpet with cat hair. On that following Monday we talked with the lady at the front desk and she said that she will write a note for the maintenance crew and she will have them come and shampoo the carpets real soon. We waited a little over 2 months and we would often see the maintenance truck and the guys working out there but never doing our carpet. We decided to go to the office once again and confront them about this issue and ask her why it wasn't getting done and she said they were backed up. But for over 2 months? NO WAY! So she said that she will have them replace all the bad carpet and leave the rest. A week or so after that they arrived at my door. I was extremely excited to know that they might finally be working on my carpet but to my disappointment they said they were only here to look at the damage. A week or so later I had to make another appointment for them to come in and clean the carpet. I was pregnant with our second baby at this time so I couldn't be present when they were using their chemical on the floor underneath the carpeting, so I decided to leave and go and see my parents. My husband had to work that same day so I had them come a lot earlier so he could be here and watch them do it. We waited and waited and waited some more and here I had spent gas to leave and they never showed up. I called the front desk and finally got a hold of her and when I did I asked her why they showed up? Her response was that they just had a move out and they had to clean the apartment. According to them the move out was a lot more important then new tenants who have been living here for more then 2 months. We have always paid on time and never made a huge fuss but they were getting on our nerves by this time. I then had to reschedule. I made the appointment at a later time in the day and they decided to show up at my door several hours earlier in the morning to start on it. The misunderstanding at this apartment is pathetic. They came back later in the day and I once again had to leave. They only got a small portion of the apartment done and said that they are just going to shampoo over the stains and see if that takes them out first before completely fixing the problem. After they completely went over the whole carpet in our apartment it smelled a little better but the smell was still there. You can really smell it when it rains and gets damp in the apartment. We expressed our concern with the apartment manager and she said that we can either get a professional to come in or we could move to a different part of the building. My husband and I decided it was best for our family to take her up on the offer of moving to a different part of the building and when my husband talked to her about it she told us that now we had to pay an additional $200.00 to do so. By this time we were completely fed up so we decided the best thing to do is move when our six month lease is up. It is up in October 30th and my husband and I were waiting for a notice to be delivered to us. We never received one. Then when I went into the office to fill out some paper work she started getting after me for not telling her if we are staying or not. She told me that if I don't tell her before Friday that she will automatically put me in for a year lease. This was without our consent or signature. I told her that she never sent us any papers on it and she told us that, that is not our responsibility to remind you. It's just a friendly reminder. She later found out that it was their fault after all because the last manager put our lease into the computer as a 12 month. Our 6th month lease would be going up $15.00 each time and every time our lease would be up if we stayed living here 6th month intervals which is pretty steep in my opinion. It would go up $30.00 for a month to month but stay the same for a year lease. After telling my husband this when i got back to the apartment he decided he was going to have a little chat with her. He went over there and she told him that she never told me that she would automatically put us in for a year lease. Which was a total lie. She is a rude lady and doesn't know how to run a business as a manager. I don't exactly recommend this place to anyone. They act at as if they care at first but they don't after a few months. As you can tell it takes a VERY LONG TIME for them to do something they said they would do. And I want to real quick mention about the noise. The apartment we were in on the 3rd floor with a balcony seemed fine at first until the other building across from us had people coming out on their balconies at odd ours of the night talking loudly and partying. The people below us have a surround sound system and seem to blare it at the wrong times. Specially when my girls are asleep. The neighbors seem friendly and it is a safe place to live if you can handle them taking for ever to fix things for you and treat you like crap. Not to mention lying and running you around the bush. If you are ok with that.. then be my guest.. stay here.. but I wouldn't recommend it!! |
